Impact of Superstition on Society There are tonnes of examples that exist in the modern world indicating the obeisance of illogical superstitions such as wearing charms for good luck, avoiding a black cat, or not walking under a ladder. If statistics are to be believed, “80% of high-rise buildings all over the world lack a 13th floor… some hotels and hospitals often choose not to have a room with the number 13 … (and) 70% of U.S. students rely on good luck charms for better academic performance” (Sandoui, 2013). It has also been observed that airlines such as Air France and Lufthansa, do not have a 13th row.
