Music and Me

Music is one of the most powerful therapies that I have ever come across. I don't think there is any person on this planet who couldn't love some form of music - pop, rock, jazz, blues, or any kind for that matter. I am a self-confessed music lover. A cup of coffee, some nice music and a wonderful sunset - that my aha moment!

You can call me a hopeless romantic for all I care, but my taste for music definitely inclines towards Bollywood - be it the soft, gentle tunes that calm the mind or the romantic melodies making you fall in love all over again - this is my go to music, anytime.

Some of my favorite Bollywood songs include:

1. Tu Hai Wahi | Jonita Gandhi

This is a remake of the song from the old Bollywood Movie Yeh Vaada Raha starring Poonam Dhillon, Tina Munim and Rishi Kapoor in lead roles.  The song was originally sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. I, however, like this version, sung by Jonita Gandhi better. It is a beautiful song that will really help you unwind after a long day and calm your senses. You can hear the version here:

2. Aadha Ishq | Band Baaja Baarat

This is a song from the movie Band Baaja Baarat starring Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh. This was one of their first movies together and was a great commercial success. In fact it had a remake in Tamil with Vaani Kapoor in the lead role.
The title for this song literally translates to Half-Love. It is basically a song about one-sided love and the hope that someday it will achieve completeness. It talks about having patience and waiting for your love to be reciprocated. The music is melodious and the lovely voice of Shreya Ghoshal makes one resonate with the characters and their emotions.

3. Hawayein | Jab Harry Met Sejal

Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly the king of Bollywood and this song from the movie Jab Harry Met Sejal is my absolute favorite. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma and is a romantic comedy about a tour guide who falls in love with his rich client.
The song literally translates to Winds. The winds are a metaphor for direction and in this romantic melody, the characters intend to question in what direction their feelings for each other are headed. it talks about their short-lived acquaintance and the memories they have made in this fleeting time. There is no moment other than now that they will be together again and as their distance increases, their love will have to decide a destination.

Long Drive Music | Bollywood Songs

For all those English song lovers out there, don't get upset, I have listened to a few English songs, too. Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are two of my favorite singers.

Here are my top three English Songs:

1. Perfect | Ed Sheeran

I told you - I am a hopeless romantic. Childhood sweethearts that fall in love and spend their life together? Double points for cuteness. In the lovely voice of Ed Sheeran, this song has time and again won my heart. The melody, the words, his voice - you will fall in love with the idea of love all over again!

2. You Belong With Me | Taylor Swift

Another love song that is my absolute favorite! The song talks about a girl (portrayed by Swift) who is in love with a guy next door, but he is dating another oh-so-perfect girl, a person Swift's character can never be. Yet she holds her up and talks about how she understands the guy much better than his girlfriend. In the end, the guy breaks up and falls for Swift's character. The song is a charming take on love that seems out of reach, but is hopeful and dreamy.

3. Look What You Made Me Do | Taylor Swift

I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now"
"Why?"

"Oh, 'cause she's dead!"

I love this song for its nasty sarcasm!
This is a perfect hate song after an unpleasant break up. The lyrics are absolutely powerful and energizing. This is your go-to song if you want to channel all that built up anger and resentment through words.
